ERFO will promote, in the scope of sustainable development, amongst others the use of fuels derived from non-hazardous waste, that meet high quality standards. ERFO will help making such standards on a European level.

Referring to this statement ERFO is directly and indirectly involved, through its members in the projects: CEN /TC 343  standardisation of Solid Recovered Fuels, Quo Vadis ( Quality Management, Organisation, Validation of standards, Developments and Inquiries for SRF) and Pre-normative research on SRF.

Financial support is or has been  given to:

  1. The document Classification of Solid Recovered Fuels, which has been used by WG 2 of CEN/TC 343 in the drafting of the standard for specification and classes.
  2. Those workpackages of Opens internal link in current windowQuo Vadis that are linked to quality management, validation of sampling and the determination of the biomass content of SRF. The outcome is used for the upgrading of the TS’s developed by CEN/TC 343.
  3.  The project Opens internal link in current windowpre-normative research comprising sampling, sample preparation and the determination of the biomass content. The outcome of the research on biomass content has been used by WG 3 of CEN/TC 343 in the drafting of the standard on this topic. The outcome of sampling and sample preparation will be used for further development of the TS drafted by WG3 of CEN/TC 343.

  4. The project determination of the biomass content in SRF, comparison of the selective dissolution method and the 14C method. The results of this project will be used for the upgrading of the TS on the determination of the biomass content (TS 15440).
