Meeting of CEN TC 343 and several working groups

Several working groups of CEN TC 343 and the TC 343 had successful meetings in Milan and Cuneo in North Italy

The process of standardisation of solid recovered fuels (SRF) is making good progress.

In a charming but cold surrounding in Milan and Cuneo (Piemont) it could be made clear that almost all work items of CEN TC 343 are now or very soon ready to be send to CEN for formal voting to become a TS (technical specification). Those will be after validation by the Quo Vadis project upgraded to Standards within three years.

The fomal voting is expected to take place till autumn of this year.

The meetings were combined with the visit of two SRF producing plants (Ecodeco and Pirelli Ambiente). In the case of Ecodeco the SRF is used on site in a fluidised bed plant to produce elictricity. The SRF of Pirelli Ambiente is delivered to a cement kiln nearby. Theoretical work in the WG's and the TC could so in the best way combined with new practical experience for mayn of the members, as the situation in the countries may differ widely.

The TC could also welcome for the first time members form Lithuania.

The Italian hosts of the meeting offered to the delegates of the TC a very nice dinner with some specialities of the Cuneo province and Piemont, which are famous for good cheese and wine.
