SRF: a significant contribution to CO2 reduction

The German organisation Prognos has carried out a study into the potential of CO₂ reduction by recycling and recovery of waste. There is no doubt that mature waste managementwill result in high reductions.A reduction in emissions for the EU27 that represents 19-31% of the climate reduction targets until 2020 is possible.The use of SRF has been looked into in this study. Using SRF for power and heat generation will contrbute significantly to the reduction of CO₂.Prognos concludes that  potentially more than 49MT CO₂/annum might be prevented when more SRF is produced and applied.
